Nancy Brunn. Goldin, age 84, formerly of West Newton, MA, died peacefully Monday morning August 19, 2013 at her home in Rye Brook, NY. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. George J. Goldin. Devoted mother of Sallye L. Leventhal and her husband Harlan Mathieu, Thomas M. Leventhal and his wife Yuko Hanada, and Lisa A. Friedlander and her husband Adam Friedlander. Devoted step-mother of Sally Beth Goldin-Rudahl and husband Kurt, Rick L. Goldin and his wife Lisa Palais, and Anita J. Goldin and her husband Carlos Pianelli. Cherished grandmother of Leo Leventhal, Isaiah and Esther Mathieu, and David and Allie Friedlander. Loving sister of Sally Breckenridge and her husband John.
Nancy was born and raised in Waterloo, Iowa, but spent her adult life in the Boston area. Early in her life she was a stewardess on DC-3’s and DC-6’s for United Airlines. She is a graduate of Lindenwood College for Women and received a bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University. She earned her certificate in Physical Therapy at Sargent College at Boston University and a Masters in Education from Northeastern University where she then worked for more than twenty years as an associate professor and advisor at Northeastern’s Bouvé College of Health Sciences in the department of Physical Therapy. After her retirement from Northeastern, she went on to earn a Certificate of Gerontology from the University of Massachusetts and volunteered her time with the Massachusetts Council on Aging and the Newton Senior Center. In 2003 she was mayoral appointee to the Newton Council on Aging
For many years she was an active member of the parish of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Newtonville, MA., a community that remained close to her heart even when she moved to New York. She was a valiant, kind, and spirited woman, who loved to converse, to read, to explore, to dance, to sing, to cook and enjoy great food, but above all loved her friends and family. She will be greatly missed by all whose lives she touched.

Services will be held at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 297 Lowell Avenue, Newtonville, MA on Saturday August 31, 2013 at 11:00 AM. She will be interred at Newton Cemetery.
