Benjamin F. Hertzberg 5/22/1932 - 2/17/2017

Benjamin F. Hertzberg, long time resident of Westchester County, passed away at home on Friday, February 17, 2017 at the age of 84, surrounded by his wife and children. As a young man, he joined the US Army Reserves (at age 15) and served his country in the Army Corps of Engineers. He and his wife, Carol, were married in December of 1953 and built a great life together, raising their two children in Tarrytown and later moving to Bedford. He worked for General Foods in its various iterations for 43 years, starting in the mail room. As a retiree, he served his community as an active participant in SCORE, the Service Corps of Retired Executives. He and his wife traveled extensively to many countries, but despite all the exotic locations they visited, the vacation he looked forward to most was the one where the extended family spent a week at a New England beach house every August. He is survived by his wife Carol and his daughters Carolyn Hertzberg Blankenship and Connie Hertzberg Mayo, and grandchildren Max Blankenship, Brian Blankenship, Emma Blankenship, Sydney Mayo and Alex Mayo.
