Obituary for Jacqui Koenig

Jacqueline Marie Koenig, née Hans was the youngest of the four children born to J. Frederic and Helen Hans. She was born in 1951 and grew up in Middle Village Queens where she became a basketball star. She attended St. John’s University where she made the college basketball team and earned a B.S. in Psychology. Soon after, she began her career on Wall Street as a Liabilities Manager in International Money Markets for Marine Midland, Israel Discount Bank, and later Credit Industriel et Commercial Banque.
In 1983, she met her now-husband Kurt Koenig who when he saw her for the first time immediately fell in love. They were married in August 25th, 1984. She bore them two children, Konrad and Katharine, to whom her love and devotion were unbound.
After the children started school, Jacqui took on a part-time position at the Town of Mt. Pleasant in the Receiver of Taxes Department, and would eventually take over as Planning Administrator in 2006. Jacqui saw her position with the town as an opportunity to serve the community and went to great lengths to help anyone in any way that was needed.
Jacqui was a faithful Catholic who had a special devotion to Our Lady. Every Wednesday for many years, she was a member of a prayer group who visited homes with a statue of Our Lady of Fatima to say the Rosary.
No one could ask for a better wife, a more devoted mother, a better friend, or more dedicated civil servant. She will be missed dearly. She is survived by her husband Kurt, son Konrad, daughter Kate, sister Marjorie Kirrane and brothers J. Frederic Hans II and Stephen Hans.
