Larry & Ann Marini
After 64 years of marriage, Antoinette (Ann) Marini and Loreto (Larry) Marini, passed away peacefully within 48 hours of each other on Saturday, September 19th and Sunday, September 20th respectively. Born in San Donato, Italy, they immigrated to the United States as teenagers, married in 1956 and were longtime residents of Pleasantville, NY.
In addition to caring for her home and family, Ann will be remembered by all those who knew her as a world class cook, an incredible gardener and flower enthusiast and a generous soul-- always ready with a cup of coffee and a friendly ear. If you were fortunate enough to have been a guest at her table, you were treated like family. Ann’s life story, from enduring German occupation of Italy as a young girl to making her way in New York City as a young mom who had yet to learn English is a true inspiration to her children and grandchildren.
After completing high school in NY, Larry served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a radio operator. He spent most of his life as a labor foreman in construction, working on some of the most famous skyscrapers in New York City including the Marriott Marquis in Times Square . . He always said how much he loved what he did and brought that passion and immense expertise with him as a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity, Camp for the Blind and the Pleasantville Lyons Club. Larry was an avid Yankees fan and was always ready with a good (and often corny!) joke.
Ann and Larry are survived by their three children, Julie Marini, Frank Marini and his wife Joanne, and Christina Vahle and her husband Kyle. Their greatest love was for their four grandchildren. They will be lovingly remembered by Alexandra Marini and Jack, Matthew and Julia Vahle. Ann and Larry built their life on their strong faith, love for each other and for their family.
Memorial donations in their memory can be made to Habitat for Humanity or to Calvary Hospital.
