During the current protests about the death of George Floyd, I began thinking about what the solution would be for our society. My thoughts went back to a guy I used to know when i worked at Nuclear Development Associates (NDA), which eventually evolved into United Nuclear Corporation (NDA). There were a bunch of bachelors who got together frequently and one of them was Bill Monroe. Bill and I became good friends at NDA. I remember asking him why he was called Bill instead of Charles and he said that one of his fathers very good friends was a Bill and that's why he used the name Bill.

Some of us lived in a house we rented on Davis Ave. in White Plains, NY and when there was and opening, I invited Bill to move in with us. To my thinking. he was a great guy and would have made a great housemate. He continued to decline the invitation to my regret. One of my housemates thought that the reason Bill declined because he may have thought that our neighbors would not care to have black person living in the neighborhood. That was the first time I even thought that Bill was black. He was a wonderful person and I never saw his color.

In my opinion, if every one considered people for who they are without without seeing the color of their skin the world would be a better place.

Anyway, I decided to try to look Bill up when I found his obituary. One look at his picture and I knew it was my old friend. He really had not changed much from when I knew him in our 20's except for the grey hair. Mine is grey too but I still have it like Bill.

It's unfortunate that we lost contact as we went on to different jobs and places around the country but I still have found memories of a truly classy friend. I am very sorry that he passed away and offer my sincere condolences.

Pat and I had the true pleasure of getting to know Bill and Elise through my cousin Rob Billman. We socialized with them twice a year at Rob and Mary Ellen's place, New Year's Eve and Super Bowl Sunday. Happy, warm memories surface when thinking of Bill's kind heart, sharp wit and gentle humor. His passion for competitive play was so evident when he would excitedly root for any team that was playing against the New England Patriots, especially if it was the NY Giants. He was a true gentleman and friend. We will miss him.

Mr. Bill was the sweetest person I have ever met. He gave my family so much love. It is rare to meet a person genuinely kind that takes a deep interest in your life. I will specifically always remember him by his warm, heartfelt hugs that greeted me every time I visited. My family and I will forever have him in our hearts.
To Mrs.Elise, we give our deepest condolences. She is a loving soul and will be in our thoughts and prayers.
With love,
Sabrina and Family
