Obituary for Evelina C. Marello (Genazzi)
Evelyn Marello of Thornwood, New York passed away December 24, 2021 in her home at the age of 93.
She was born on October 7, 1928 in Preonzo, Switzerland To Lorenzina and Natale Genazzi.
Evelyn, together with her sister Carmella, immigrated to the United States, where she proudly became a citizen on January 3, 1955.
On May 22, 1954 she married the love of her life Armando Marello at St. Rock church in the Bronx, where they resided on DeReimer Avenue.
In 1965 Evelyn and Armando moved to Thornwood, New York, where she raised six sons. She was a Life member of the Thornwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary serving as Treasure for many years.
She loved traveling with her husband to her hometown in Switzerland every year, were they enjoyed harvesting grapes and making wine together. Her love of animals was known to all.
Evelyn is predeceased by her husband, Armando, her daughter-in-law Debi, and her grandson Glenn. She is survived by her six sons and their wives, Steve, Louis and Mary, Ron and Diana, Larry and Michelle, Eric and Diane, and Robert and Nicole.
She was a devoted Noni to her 15 Grandchildren, and 2 Great Grandchildren. She is also survived by two sisters, Carmela and Ausilia, and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made to the Thornwood Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.
