George died peacefully in his sleep due to complications from dementia. George had a full life starting on a small farm located in Ladd Hill, Oregon. He joined the US Navy during World War II and was assigned to Sub Chaser 672. During the war he met his wife, Virginia Maier, of Pleasantville, NY and they recently celebrated their 74th anniversary.
Besides his employment as a milk truck driver, George was fond of hunting and fishing. He was the last surviving charter member of Buck Knoll Hunting Club where he held all positions during his lifetime. George was also a life member of the Thornwood Fire Company and Service and served as Chief from 1966-1969. George is survived by his wife, Virginia, his two sons, William and Joseph, and numerous grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Arrangements to be held in the future
