Obituary for Guido Poet

Guido Poet, of Thornwood, NY, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2022. He was 95.
Guido was born in New York City on January 4, 1927. The son of John and Jennie Poet. He grew up in Pleasantville and was a graduate of Pleasantville High School. He entered the US Navy during WWII, and served as a Gunners Mate for two years until the war ended. He was very fortunate to participate in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. to the World War Two Memorial in 2016.
Guido was a letter Carrier for the US Post Office in Pleasantville for 35 years, retiring 1982. After is retirement, he became a flatbed truck driver for his son Barry, at A & A Transmissions in Thornwood. He worked there for 30 years, retiring in2012.
He was a longtime member of Westchester Model A Club. He took may extensive road trips with the club over the years. Guido was also a member of the Pleasantville Target Shooting Club.
He married Sally Deā€™Andre on October 11, 1953. She passed away in 2000.
Guido was a devoted family man and was loved dearly. One our fondest memories was a cross country trip in a new travel trailer in 1968. Guido and Sally took many vacations together to car shows over the years, and traveled from Alaska to Switzerland.
Guido is survived by his two sons, Barry and John (Deanna) Poet. 5 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
