Helen Sigiel, a resident of Westchester County, died December 28, 2019. She was 100 years old.
She was born in Utica, NY, on July 9 1919, one of 5 girls of Walter and Mary (Giza) Sigiel. Helen was the owner of the Salon at The Delmonico Hotel on Park Avenue in New York City from 1958-1985. While working she colored Burt Lahr’s hair when he played the Cowardly Lion in The Wizard of Oz on Broadway, and cut The Beatles hair when they stayed at The Delmonico in 1964.
She became a resident of Westchester County in 1977 and after selling the salon in 1985 continued doing the hair of some of her clients privately.
She is survived by her sister, Gladys Wronski, 7 nieces and nephews, 8 grand-nieces and nephews and 13 great grand nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital would be appreciated.
