Jean Sullivan Goresen (nee Giuriceo) of Yonkers, New York went to her eternal rest on Wednesday, June 10th, following a long illness. She was 87.
Jean was born to Anna and Clement Giuriceo on May 10th, 1933 in Riverdale, New York and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx.
She married Charles Sullivan in 1951 and they had three daughters, Laura Bell, Barbara Hoffmeister, and Dr. Brenda Sullivan. She was predeceased by her husband in 1976 and married George Goresen in 1981. He died in 2011. Jean was also predeceased by her older brother Anthony Giuriceo.
In addition to her three daughters, Jean is survived by her sister Marie Giuriceo, her brother Raymond Giuriceo, her three sons-in law Hugh Bell, Edward Hoffmeister and Dr. S. Selvaraj, and her four grandchildren, Anita and Jennifer Selvaraj and Teresa and Rita Hoffmeister. Her first granddaughter Ann Marie Selvaraj passed away in 1996.
Jean worked for more than two decades as Executive Secretary to the Superintendent of the Greenburgh Graham Schools in Hastings, New York.
For years she mentored young women as a Girl Scout Leader in Yonkers and was very active in the Scarsdale American Legion Post 52.
Over the course of her life, she was an avid world traveler, having visited all seven continents.
Jean will be sorely missed but forever remembered by her children, grandchildren, siblings, nieces, nephews, lifelong friends and colleagues, whom she loved so dearly.
Following a private funeral service, Jean will be laid to rest at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, New York.
