Kristin Rollins Seewaldt

Kristin Seewaldt was born on January 23, 1964 in Drexel Hill Pennsylvania to Donald and Diane Ekquist. She passed away at her home on November 25, 2019 with her loving husband Al Seewaldt, caregiver Rachel Morgan, and nurse Maureen Morgan, from Hospice at her side. She was 55 years old. Kris will be greatly missed. For over 9 years, Kris and her family struggled bravely with a rare and highly aggressive form of Dementia, Frontotemporal Dementia (FTD). FTD is a form a dementia that occurs in young people and progresses very rapidly. As a child, Kristin loved horses and played the flute; she was valedictorian of her high school. Kristin attended Pennsylvania State University and graduated with a B.S. in engineering and a minor in Electrical Engineering. She was President of the Penn State Physics Society. After graduating from college, Kris worked as an Engineer for IBM; IBM was impressed by Kris’s abilities and sponsored her to receive a Master’s Degree in Physics and rapidly promoted her to be a Manager and Senior Marketing Manager. Kris is survived by her husband, parents, sister Karla, and two children, Rajesh (Raj) and Kailash (Kai). Raj is currently getting his PhD at Carnegie Melon University; Kai is currently a Senior at University of California at San Diego; he will graduate this winter with a degree in Computer Science and will work for Amazon after graduation. Kris married Alfred Seewaldt in 2007; they had a beautiful wedding at Castle on Hudson and honeymooned in Bora Bora. Kris will be remembered for her compassion, joy, and sense of humor. Kris was diagnosed with FTD in 2010; she and her husband Al and her children Raj and Kai faced her diagnosis with courage. Kris never lost her love of life and she and Al traveled to Hawaii, Bermuda, and Niagara Falls, even after her disease became advanced. The family wants to thank Dr. Marilyn Jacobowitz, My Second Home (a day program for individuals with dementia), and Ms. Rena Bellamy from Hospice for their compassionate care. Al also wishes to thank Rachel Morgan and Dorothy Johnson for their exceptional care for Kris – they gave from the heart and Al will always be grateful. A wake is planned for 4:00-8:00 pm on Friday November 29, 2019 at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville. A memorial service is planned at 10:00 am Saturday also at Beecher in Pleasantville followed by burial at Fair Ridge Cemetery in Chappaqua, N.Y. After the burial, lunch will be served at the Chappaqua Fire House. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the Association for Frontotemporal Degeneration society https//www.theaftd.org
