Laurie Beth Sherwin was a loving mother, sister and friend. She was born in Queens, NY on March 14, 1951 to loving parents Ruth and Saul Rubin. Laurie attended CW Post Long Island University graduating in 1973 and later in life received a masters degree in 2002 at Western Connecticut State University for guidance counseling. Laurie worked in the Bedford school system most of her career in the special education department as a job coach. She would train her students on life skills and help them get jobs in the local community. During her time at Bedford she made lifelong friends and found rewarding work. Laurie had a passion for animals and was a charitable donor to the ASPCA. She had two dogs in her adult life,Tyler and Cooper whom she adored. Laurie was an avid traveler and loved exploring Europe. She loved Italy but Paris was always her favorite city. Laurie was an extremely social woman and had tons of friends. She was the life of the party and was the type of friend who was always up for an adventure. Laurie is survived by her daughter, Samantha Sherwin and her husband Gerard Donohue, her son Jonathan Sherwin and his wife Rachel Yamrus and her sister Doreen Bobkin and her husband Marc Bobkin. There is a memorial service at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home on Sunday, April 18th at 9:30am for anyone who would like to pay their respects and celebrate her beautiful life.
