Obituary for LaVerne H. Orchard

Orchard, LaVerne

LaVerne H. Orchard was born in Milwaukee, WI on April 18th, 1920 to loving parents Frank and Marianna Althoff.
In the 1940’s she worked at A.O. Smith in Milwaukee, as assistant to the design engineer. During that time she was introduced by a friend to the soon to be love of her life, Earl. They were married September 25rd 1948 and spent 63 years filled with happiness and love.
For many years, LaVerne was an avid bowler, who enjoyed bowling in two leagues and competing in tournaments. She often was successful in achieving higher scores than Earl with ease, much to his chagrin.
In the 60’s and 70’s LaVerne found a perfect channel for her creativity by working with an organization called Twigs, who made tray favors for hospital patients for various holidays. LaVerne also volunteered with Earl at the nonprofit thrift shop, Twigs Thriftree in Mount Kisco, NY decorating the shop and maintaining the store building. LaVerne’s warm demeanor and wonderful sense of humor was appreciated by all around her. She enjoyed crafts, painting and listening to music ranging from the 40’s classics to one of her favorites, Michael Bublé. LaVerne ended her life’s journey at the age of 102 on January 25th.
She is survived by her daughter Merry Orchard and her “son-in-law” Darrell Arok.
