Obituary for Lawrence A. "Larry" Silka
Lawrence A. Silka (Larry) died peacefully at Phelps Memorial Hospital on Monday, December 21, 2020.
Born on March 12, 1925 to Adam Silka and Agnes Benben Silka in Amsterdam, NY, Larry attended Mt. Saint Michael’s High School in the Bronx, NY. He later attended The Citadel in South Carolina where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering. Larry retired as a Civil Engineer from Westchester County in 1986 where he spent his entire career.
Larry married Clare Frances Wagner from Mt. Kisco, NY on her birthday on October 6, 1962 at our Lady of Sorrows Church in White Plains where they settled until moving to Pleasantville in 1997.
Larry loved his home in the Foxwood Condos, was an avid reader and enjoyed traveling the world with his wife, having been in Russia just prior to her passing in 2008. Always charming, always happy, he will be greatly missed.
