Obituary for Mario Chiarlitti
On November 10, 2021, Mario Chiarlitti passed away peacefully at his home at the age of 90 years old.
Mario was born in Frosinone, Italy in 1931. He emigrated to the United States with his mother in 1948 to join his father. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Shirley in 2007 and a brother Pio Chiarlitti killed in action during WWII while fighting with the US Army in 1944 not far from his family home in Italy. A resident of Pleasantville, NY since 1948 where he was affectionately known by all as “Poppy”, he worked for 30 years as an equipment operator for the town of Mount Pleasant Highway Department. During his retirement he enjoyed travelling both cross country and locally to see his daughters in Idaho and Mahopac, taking care of his grandchildren, and cutting firewood.
He is survived by his son Dr. Anthony Chiarlitti (Bernadette) of Pleasantville, NY, daughters Inez Agugliaro (Christopher) of Mahopac, NY, and Susan Lindsay (Richard) of Payette, ID. Grandchildren Anthony, James, Christopher, Michael, Steven, Robert, Michael, and John as well as several great-grandchildren. He left an everlasting impression on his family and those who new him. He will be greatly missed. The Family will receive friends at the Beecher Flooks Funeral Home in Pleasantville on Sunday November 14th from 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at Holy Innocents R.C. Church on Monday at 10:00 AM. Burial to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne.
