Obituary for Robert Richard Roche

Robert Richard Roche Wednesday, December 13, 1939 - Saturday, December 17, 2022

Robert (Bob) Roche, 83 years old, passed away peacefully with family by his side at Cortlandt Healthcare in Cortlandt, NY after a long battle with numerous illnesses.

Bob was born in the Bronx, NY on December 13, 1939 to Edith and Charles Roche. Bob met and married Janet (Avy) in 1962 and moved to Thornwood in 1971 where they raised two daughters, MaryEllen LaMonica (Gregory LaMonica) and Melissa Molloy. Bob and Janet just celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on December 9th. Bob was a proud member of Sheet Metal Workers Union Local 28 and Local 38. He was an avid boater and fisherman and enjoyed spending time on the water with his family, especially his father-in-law, Harry Avy and later on with good friend Bobby Hunt. Bob was a founding member of the Spirit of 76 committee in Mt. Pleasant, NY, an organization that was near and dear to his heart. He enjoyed barbecuing on the weekends while his grandkids played in the pool. Bob and Janet moved to Barnegat, NJ for ten years before moving back to New York to be closer to family. Those who knew Robert will remember him as a strong, fair man devoted to his country and his family.

In addition to his wife, daughters and son-in-law, Robert is survived by five grandchildren: Bryan LaMonica (Rachel Pozzatti), Sean LaMonica (Mariana Hernandes) Abigail LaMonica (Nicholas Muzyka), Christopher Lee, Jack Lee (Lina El-Saieh) and three great grandchildren, Dexter Lee, Scott Lee, and Bryce LaMonica along with his two brothers, Jack and William, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are private.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Bob’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project.  https://www.woundedwarriorproject.org/
