Obituary for Walter Daniel Morgan

Walter Daniel Morgan of Thornwood, NY died on December 2, 2014. He was 79 years old. Dan was born September 25, 1935 in New York City to the late Walter and Edith Morgan. He attended Eastchester Public Schools and received his Bachelor’s Degree and Master’s Degree in Education from the City College of New York and an Ed. D. in Education from the State University of New York at Albany.
Dan began his career as an Industrial Arts teacher in New York City and Irvington High School. He was a School Business Administrator at Irvington Public Schools and then Assistant Superintendent-Finance at Hawthorne Cedar Knolls U.F.S.D. in Hawthorne, NY. He was an adjunct professor at SUNY New Paltz, Mercy College, Pace University and Columbia University. For many years he served as a member of the Board of Trustees Westchester Exceptional Children’s School in North Salem, NY.
He is survived by his loving wife Joan (Donohue) of 53 years; his daughters Susan Morgan of Mt. Kisco and Elizabeth (Joseph) Castellano of Brewster and his three grandchildren John Daza, Emma and Danielle Castellano and his brother Tom of Kettering, Ohio.
He was a thoughtful, kind and loving man known for his warm nature, wonderful sense of humor and quick wit. He will be missed deeply by all whose lives he touched.
Visiting will be at Beecher Flooks Funeral Home on Thursday, December 4th from 4:00 - 8:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM on Friday, December 5th at Holy Rosary Church, 170 Bradhurst Avenue, Hawthorne, NY. Interment to follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery.
